Shantell Jackson, a versatile artist hailing from Buffalo, NY and now based in Spokane, WA, finds her creative impulse rooted deep within. Each artistic endeavor is a journey that begins internally, manifesting outwardly into vibrant, rhythmic, and textured works.

Beyond her visual artistry, Shantell encompasses roles as a poet, writer, speaker, and educator. Her prose and poetry have found homes in the Anthology, “Evergreen: Grim Tales & Verses from the Gloomy Northwest.”

In 2021, Shantell was honored to be among the inaugural artists in residence at ‘The Hive,’ where six months were dedicated to the creation of expansive paintings. This culminated in the exhibit “Her Words to Life,” a collaborative homage to Black Women authors and their literary contributions.

Currently, Shantell serves as the Program Director at Spokane Arts, bringing her expertise from fifteen years in Higher Education, particularly in academic and multicultural programming. She also curates the esteemed "The Chase Gallery" in Spokane, WA.

Through her diverse roles in the community and her pursuits as a visual artist and writer, Shantell aspires to synthesize her disciplines into installations and performance art. These explorations delve into the contemporary and historical aspects of the human condition, fostering dialogue across divides to construct bridges of acceptance and promote healing.
